By releasing artist's editions, the publishing house Nothing More Nothing Less (nm-nl) offers artists the opportunity to experiment with artist’s books as an independent artistic medium. The analogue format of a versatile printed matter offers space for alternative narrative styles and, with its inexpensive selling price, is intended to be accessible to a wide audience. In this respect, the medium of the artist’s book is intended to be interpreted very broadly, ranging from mechanically produced magazines or books, through assemblies of photocopies, to folded posters. No restrictions on the content, design or physical form of individual editions are placed on the artists, who are invited to contribute by the publisher.

Each individual edition aims to represent an alternative space which goes beyond simple documentation and makes the act of observation into a tactile experience. Books published by Nothing More Nothing Less try to break with traditional design forms and can therefore be narrative and playful aswell as cryptic and programmatic.

These published artworks – produced collectively through the cooperation of artist, publisher and producers (graphic designers, printers) – invite observers to touch, browse, open and finally close them, until a new prospect deals with the artist’s book.

Nothing More Nothing Less is organised by Gian Losinger and Christian Herren.
